Ingredients
Peerkangai/Ridge gourd- 2 no
Toor dal-1/4 cup(wash and soak for 10 min)
Green chilli-2
Onion-1 chopped
Tomato-1 chopped
Garlic- 4 pods
Tamarind- 1 inch ball( Little)
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Chilli powder-1/4 tsp
Hing- a pinch
Salt
Oil
Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
Red chilli-2
Curry leaves-few
Coriander leaves few
Method
1.Wash and clean ridge gourd by taking inside seeds completely. Peel the outer layer slightly and chop into cubes.2.In a pressure cooker add soaked toor dal,chopped ridge gourd,greenchilli,onion,tomato,garlic,tamarind,turmeric powder,chilli powder and hing.
3.Add required water and pressure cook for 5-6 whistle.
4.In a kadai heat oil and crackle mustard seeds,curry leaves and red chilli. Add this seasoning into the Stir cooked dal. Now add salt and cook for 2-3 min. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve for rice/Pongal
